Greeting Fellow Fitnatics!
What a month it has been for me. It is hard to imagine also that 24 hrs ago I’ve joined a team and we are doing an obstacle course coming this August 15. Looks like we have 6-7 members so far and looking to grow before race day. From exercising, running, hiking and now obstacle courses, I am just pushing myself to be better than I was yesterday. I am not near my lowest weight of 169.4 lbs but I am getting back to my 5 workouts or 2 hr workouts that I use to be doing earlier in the year. I’m even changing up my workout times to evenings. Since I work graveyard shifts and start work at 3 am, I’m sleeping during the afternoon and getting up 5 hrs before my shift. This is my 2nd day now.
Whenever you begin to plateau or become complacent in your workout or healthy, it is always good to change it up a little bit or try something new to spice up your routines or lifestyle. It isn’t living if you aren’t challenging yourself and keeping your mind engaged to new experiences and new discoveries. Coming out of your ‘comfort zone’ maybe challenging like picking up the phone to ask that person you like for a date but you are holding yourself back if you fear failure or rejection. Part of being good at what you do and leading others to the same road and journey is stumbling and getting up more times than those that are just beginning. What you had to endure to get to where you are is your source of strength and motivation that you’ve been through worse situations and still came out on top and/or have moved forward to bigger things.
I’m looking forward to my next Saturday Challenge. We will be hiking & climbing some peaks in my beautiful backyard of British Columbia. Imagine that this is all new to me and haven’t does these things for 35 years of my existence. I am cherishing every moment and living in the moment. Though I’m having fun and discovering more of my capabilities, I know now that I’m setting an example for others to experience life more. The most important ones to me are my two boys. It is setting up the environment for them to be fit on a regular basis and never take anything for granted. Work hard in your craft and develop your craft. Stand out from the crowd and be unique. Look after those that want to strive towards being better and most importantly, always have fun in this journey.

Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome Dads out there. It takes a special person to be called Dad. It is something that needs to be earned and acknowledge by the ones that are special to your life. Keep being awesome and set a fine example to the young ones!
What a beautiful day it was yesterday. Sadly, my family wasn’t able to go because my eldest son woke up with a fever. He is feeling better now and up and running around. Wish they could have come but we will go out later today for Father’s Day. It wasn’t a challenging hike but it was one that everyone can enjoy. Not just hikers or the very fit. Really blessed to have a wonderful backyard called British Columbia. Wish I’ve enjoyed this earlier but I’m enjoying it now and that is all that matters.
Really happy that I am able to enjoy this with wonderful friends and family. It is easy to go back to the old life and back to your comfort zone but having fellow like-minded hikers helps you stay accountable. I’m really blessed to have them cross my path and challenge me every week and everyday to be the very best I can be. I wouldn’t change it for anything. If you have a dream or what to try something new, look for people or join groups that can guide you through it and share their experiences to know what to expect. You are adding value to your life but you don’t have to be alone to do it. It really fulfilling to know that people see your growth and transformation.
I’m looking forward to doing the Stawamus Chief for the first time. It’s not only just a hike up but a full body exercise. You gotta get you upper body strength up to pull yourself up on these peaks. I have 7 days to get my upper body strength up so it will make it easier and most importantly enjoying every moment of the hike. Why do it if you don’t enjoy it. Kinda defeats the purpose. Doing it isn’t enough but preparing yourself for it makes it more worthwhile. It makes you appreciated what you had to do and endure leading into and to the finish line. It isn’t success without sacrifices. So challenge yourself everyday so that you are ready for what the journey has in store for you!

Greetings Fellow Fit-natics!
It’s been quite awhile again since I last posted but I am doing very well. Went hiking again last Saturday up to Garibaldi Lake. It wasn’t as steep as the Grouse Grind, two Saturdays ago, but more of a distance hike. It was very fun and the beautiful scenery of Beautiful British Columbia makes me inspired to do more hiking. Actually, we are planning another hike this coming Saturday with a picnic for those that do not hike. Just get everyone involve and bring awareness to keeping fit daily gets you to beautiful experiences.
There is a 20 KM half marathon happening on the 28th. Still debating if I want to do it because I am no where near the fitness and endurance level I was for the Vancouver Sun Run. That run was only 10 km and I’m not sure I can do the double version of it… lol. There is a 5 km run but that one is sold out. But I must admit though that life is beautiful when you sacrifice a little towards your health. 14 years of working, eating, sleeping & repeating, I never imagined I will be hiking and doing more outdoor activities. I guess having kids brings out the best of you. I thought supporting them financial by working hard by putting more hours in was enough but being fit and doing more activities with them is more rewarding. I’m so humbled and happy to be on this new life journey.
You really need something outside the norm of daily life & routine. It is insane to do the same thing over and over again and still feel fulfilled. Only a handful achieve and enjoy what they do for a living and that is perfect alignment with every aspect of your life. But for the rest of us that need to make our bread from not the dream job we’ve imagined, we need to make sure that the other aspects align or complement what we do. We don’t want to get into things that only makes us happen for a short period of time. That is just a waste of time. It needs to be something that we know we can do for the rest of our lives. I’ve wasn’t exercising regularly after the Vancouver Sun Run and that has costed me more than I imagined. Besides throwing away 5 months worth of exercise away in a single month of May. I’ve robbed myself from future experiences like doing more hikes and challenging more runs. Never again!
I’m getting back to my routine of exercising 5 times or at least 2 hrs a day. 30 – 1 hr is good enough to maintain the fitness level you are happy with accompanied by eating right & responsibly. For me, I want to challenge myself and experience life that I haven’t experience in my 20’s and early 30’s. I was focused on working hard and climbing the corporate ladder that I stopped focusing on me and more importantly my interaction with my family. You do it for your love ones so you really need to enjoy it with your love ones. Setting an example of fitness and enjoying life becomes their habit. We, parents, are their first role models so be the best you can be and LIVE by example!
Your Humble Servant,
Greetings Fitness Community!
I’m impressed on what I was able to achieve lately. Last Friday, I did double duty by taking the family to the park but also doing 11 laps around the track there. Saturday morning, I did the ‘Grouse Grind’ and hike up Grouse Mountain for 2.9 km with an elevation of 853 meters in 70 mins. That was my very first time doing that and my heart was the only noise I can hear… lol. I will need a group to convince me to do that again. Sunday, I felt fine and didn’t feel any major soreness at all so I decide to run for an hour. Did some light workouts and started working out on my Abs again. The abs is what I feel so far. I finished off today with a 30 min workout, 20 mins of various tasks and another 30 min run around the neighborhood. 3 runs in 4 nights!
I must admit I wasn’t being religious on my workouts since the Vancouver Sun Run on April 19th. I would workout every Monday to kick off my 3 week program but life gets busy especially promoting and following up with people to go hiking on Saturdays. Helping out my community and most importantly being a dad. Doing the ‘Grouse Grind’ for the first time opened my eyes again. I shouldn’t be feeling this tired or exhausted. I know I cannot compare hiking to running but I know myself and what I am capable of doing when I really commit to it. When I made a commitment, I got my weight down to 169 lbs from 206 lbs in 5 months. I wasn’t starving myself but just eating right and working out. I need to go back to what got me to the best shape of my life in a long time. No splitting myself in various projects and just go back to basics and that is looking after my health. Logging/Blogging in my results and how I feel and achieved for the day and get ready for tomorrow.
I was very inspired with my fellow hikers on what they are able to achieve and do together. One family inspired me to do the same thing with my family. I really need to step up, go back to what was working and really create that life style for my family. My son will be attending Kindergarten this September and the Open House at the school he will be attending really opened my eyes on how parent participation can make a big difference. I saw parents who were interactive with their child get more response and feedback from their child and I saw parents who leave their kids alone and just wait on the sidelines or stare at their phones. I give props to the Mothers that keep the household together and raising their children. It isn’t my place to assume but I can only look after my two boys and be there every step of the way.
I did a lot today and looking forward to pushing myself tomorrow after work. I need to prepare myself for the Garibaldi Lake Hike Challenge this coming Saturday and really support and serve my fitness community. There is time for competition and there is time for teamwork. I’m can only focus on my health and fitness and I leave the rest to Him. I must look after my community like He looks after His flock. Going back to basics and humble beginnings is all that I will do and really put trust in Him that he will line me up with wonderful people and situations. Doing too much or only focusing on how you feel or your emotion is short lived. There is so much to life when you pursue happiness and challenge yourself to enrich that happiness, then opportunities will bend towards your path.
Your humble servant,
Hello fitness fans,
Wow… it has been almost a month since I posted a blog but I am back! I’ve been busy with outdoor activities that I didn’t have time to do the workouts or the online fitness that help me get to this point. I’ve been busy organizing outdoor activities every Saturday since the weather started getting warmer and the sun became more constant. But I am back for good! After doing the ‘Grouse Grind’ this morning for the first time in my 35 year existence, I do not wanna feel that tired and exhausted again. I also gained 7 lbs during this time so I need really need to get back to form and start loading up my calendar with events and goals. After the Vancouver Sun Run, I didn’t set out a goal or a specific date because I didn’t know when the Grouse Grind will begin. I put June but I should have made an event for May to keep me on pace.
Good things have happen and will continue to happen as long as I make this commitment to myself. It is very important to me to be fit and healthy since my father passed away 5 years ago on June 2nd. He has been battling with heart problems and also his long battle with diabetes. I wanna live an amazing life and I wanna life it with my family and friends that will join me on my journey. I was and still a shy introvert to the core but with the support from family, friends and many that have messaged me on Facebook I know that this is a way for me to make a difference for someone else. I am able to help someone indirectly by just posting and blogging. The events and connecting with old classmates and friends from the past is extra special.
Everyone has given me an extra gear to make the most of my life. My love for my family was the start of my journey and the empowerment of everyone that touched my life and that I have touched are the content to this amazing story that I am creating with my life. I wanna thank everyone so far in their own way to pass on something special to strengthen me and encourage me to live life and enjoy each minute and each second given to me. Special thanks today to: Shalyn, her husband Samuel, their 15 month son-Tristan, Vlad, Allan, Xydus, and Ninong Tats for doing the Grouse Grind with me today. I am really motivated and to see the smiles of victory on their faces after scaling the face of Grouse Mountain has really charged me. I am your humble servant I will do my best to enrich your lives and everyone that joins us to be healthy and fit. God bless!
Your humble Servant,
