June 25, 2016 Journal: The Night before the Big Race

The only man who never makes mistakes, is the man who never does anything.

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone had an superb Saturday!  I had a most excellent and productive day.  Got the groceries done in the afternoon. Went over to the Running Room in Burnaby to pick up some snacks, socks & a water belt for my Scotiabank Half Marathon race tomorrow.  Got my workouts in and finished the day with a 5K walk with the family down to Pier Park.  The best way to get support from your family is to get them involved.

This will be another first for me with the Scotiabank Half Marathon. Last year, I only did the Vancouver Sun Run & the Rugged Maniac Obstacle race and a lot of hiking.  This year so far, I did the Vancouver Sun Run which I beat my record for almost 2 mins.  I ran the BMO Half Marathon which is a first time doing a Half Marathon and I will be having my half Marathon race tomorrow. I know it isn’t the same race but I’m hoping to get under 2 hrs for this race.

Will this be a hobby of mine? Who knows.  I’m just taking it one day at a time and I’m that it will be and who I will be known for.  Overall, I’m just taking it all in and learning the sport more & the community and myself also.  If you spend time discovering yourself each day you will be amazed on what you can do and never be bored when you involve others to what you enjoy doing.  Set yourself free when you begin to remove the limitations that you place on yourself!

Many blessings to you,

Ryan Jarata & Family
