“I know what I have to do, and I’m going to do whatever it takes. If I do it, I’ll come out a winner, and it doesn’t matter what anyone else does.” – FLORENCE GRIFFITH JOYNER

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone is having an amazing New Year’s Eve and counting it down with your family & friends around this beautiful world.  Just finishing up my workout which has been part of my journey of self discovery.  2015 has been such an amazing year for me and my family.  For the first time in a long time we decided to actually LIVE life.  If you have followed my on Twitter; Instagram or Facebook you know my journey and seen all the memories I’ve created and captured to become more healthy and more active in life.  Breaking free from the norms of life of getting up for work, coming home to rest & repeating the process the next day.  I didn’t take it easy at work though.  I still dedicate and focus on what I’m doing at that moment but my priorities have changed & my mind set has changed after my work.  This post won’t do justice on what I’ve done this year. You will have to read all my post see what I’ve done and see how much I’ve changed.

When you make the decision for yourself that you want to improve and really dedicate yourself everyday towards that decision then the world will align to your new outlook into life.  You don’t need to keep chasing or keeping up to date with the world around you because what will be important to you is your mission to improve.  You will be surprised, like me, when you decide to love yourself and create the results for making that decision.  Life is about results and the main reason that you’ve made that life altering decision is that you want to see those changes, those results, during or after your journey.  All that I’ve been able to do could have not occurred and I wouldn’t be reconnecting with friends & family and sharing those moments with them.  I could have been still climbing the ladder and running the ‘Rat Race’ if I decide to quit 5 days into my journey to become healthy for myself & my family.  Quitting is easy but it last forever.  Deciding not to quit after the soreness of Day 5 has resulted in me working out for 63 days straight from November 2014 – January 2015.  I couldn’t list all the stuff I’ve did for the first time without my dedication to being healthy and fit and most importantly to the support of family & friends.  They were the biggest helping hands that kept me going and kept my heart beating to discover more for 2016.

I’m ending the year 177 lbs.  Last year it would have been 185 lbs but I know I can do so much more with the new experience that I’ve accumulated and the support I’ve connect with.  This is the reasons why I’m so excited for 2016 because of this rocky journey of the unknown that 2015 has given me.  I love systems but sometimes you need to inject new things to keep the engine going.  The unknown can be scary but when you send that message out into the world you are not alone in that journey.  I’m so thankful for those that reached out and especially those that I’ve shared the journey with.  2015 was fun but 2016 will be that and more.  Life is about improving so we need to beat our personal bests that we’ve created this year.  My family is waiting for me and we will be having dinner with my extended family.  I just want to thank all of you for this.  This amazing life that I was able to discover with your help and support.  Paying it forward has many forms but the main goal is to uplift someone’s life & spirit and all of you have done that for me and my family!  Thank you for all the love and let’s grow next year!

“You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.” – WAYNE GRETZKY

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope you had an Wonderful Wednesday! For my local community around Vancouver, it has been quite an awakening to feel a 10 second earthquake late Tuesday night.  I can see it on my FB news feed of people who felt the 4.3 – 4.8 earthquake.  I was in bed when that happened.  Thought the was a truck driving by or someone hitting our house or fence.  Being in bed, I guess it absorb the shake because I didn’t think it was that bad at all but it was an eye opener for some family & friends who posted their status.  Even though I didn’t think much of that experience I didn’t let it become my day.  I stayed focused on enjoying life and thankful for each given day.

I’m quickly getting back to form with my workouts.  Still working on the nutrition part of my life.  Everyone is still under the weather so it has been soup & easy to prepare food.  I’m still going to overcome my habit of not wasting food.  Still have a lot of food & treats from the Christmas parties & tomorrow’s New Year Eve family party will just add to that pile.  I’m just doing my 5 workouts or about 100 mins per day to burn the extra calories. Just chipping away at it one day at a time.  So far I’m still around 178 lbs with 1 day to go.  My goal is to match my 176 of last November.  Hopefully, I can achieve it by tomorrow morning before the family New Year Eve party.

Have to work on yourself one day at a time.  Even if it is only 15 mins a day.  Doing nothing results to nothing.  Like The Great One, Wayne Gretzky, mention above: “You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.”  You do nothing today, you get nothing tomorrow. Believe in yourself that you will change and your results will change over time as long as you keep consistent in improving yourself 15 – 30 mins a day.  Each day you invest in yourself improves tomorrow.  If you feel it physically after a workout then embrace that.  That is change happening!  If your outlook on the daily things in life changes after learning something new about yourself then embrace that. That is you changing for the better.  It begins with you.  You believe in yourself and respect yourself then your surroundings will align to the ‘New You’!  Believe in the ‘New You’ into the New Year and for the rest of your life!

“Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.” – MARILYN VOS SAVANT

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday!  Just tackling my daily tasks right now before I end the night.  Didn’t get much rest last night so I ended up falling asleep on the coach this afternoon.  But no excuse to just write off your goals & tasks for the day.  As I mentioned in my other post, we need to remove the old habits, vices & what are holding you back to move into the future.  It all begins with making a ‘decision’ & your define purpose in life.  But in order to lead, set an example or back up your words you need to develop yourself that you live what you say.  I write these blogs for my future self.  To remind me who I was and how much I’ve grown.  I keep it real so that I know and believe in myself that I can change for the best.

We all fail, we all get defeated time to time.  Sometimes it is out of our control but majority of the time it is how we view the situation.  When we give ourselves the time to think than react on our emotions then we can really own the situation and make a positive step forward from it.  When you decide to live your life than letting life tell you how to live, there will be no time for negativity to be entertained or given time.  Make these final days of 2015 discovering who you are and what you really want out of life.  What your DEFINE purpose in life and planning how to make that happen.  It isn’t too late to change your life for the better.  The best time to plant a tree that will bear fruits is now.  December is a time to enjoy and be happy but it is also the foundation to start the New Year!  Plant your tree now!

December 28 Fitness Challenge: Now You Decide!

“Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.” – UNKNOWN

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone is having a marvelous Monday!  The family is still under the weather and coughing up a storm but it hasn’t effected our spirits.  We are happy and enjoying each others’ time.  Looking at my two boys and their smiles & happiness just lifts any mood & fatigue.  My wife works so hard that I want to work hard for them.  I’m excited for 2016 & for the future.  I know I’m still a little frighten inside for the unknown but I must acknowledge that it is my past and that it doesn’t have to decide my future.

A wonderful example that I heard this morning when doing my daily session of motivation for 30 mins was putting a new coat of paint on a car or house.  Most people tend to just put a new layer of paint over the old paint to start fresh and new. But sooner or later that new coat of paint will peel off and the old paint will reveal itself.  No one is willing to do the extra work or know that the extra work is too tedious to remove the old layer first before they paint.  No one is willing to scrub or sand off the impurities off and think that painting over will solve everything. Once that new paint starts to peel it’s either left alone or was someone else fault that it didn’t work.

This is the same as habit and how we handle things in the past.  We jump into new things or buy new toys thinking it will fill our happiness and/or address our problems.  We don’t really address ourselves of our habits, faults or history.  We tend to paint over the past and try to move forward but when challenges comes or even success comes we revert to our old selves and end up back to ground zero or even worst, another thing that doesn’t work or someone else fault.

I’m not perfect and I tend to go back to old habits even today but I am chipping away at myself everyday.  The David that I’m sculpting is myself.  Fear and doubt is still there lingering in the back of my mind but like I said before it doesn’t have to dictate my future.  I do not have to smuggle my past into the present and into my future.  I am excited because I am venturing off towards a better future for myself but most importantly my family and the residual effects to my community.  I’ve seen people succeed and I just need to follow their example.  Family & Friends may not understand what I do and may think I’m wasting my time because they don’t see themselves doing that.  It is the ICE BURG effect, they just see what is on the surface but don’t see or want to do what is underneath the surface.  I’ve made my decision and planned my entire 2016 year for this transformation.  Now you decide.

“There are only two options regarding commitment: you’re either in or you’re out. There’s no such thing as life in between.” – unknown

Greetings Family & Friends!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday. Spent most of mine with the two boys watching ‘Might Morphin Power Rangers’ and finish it.  The wife was tired from last night work and needed rest for her shift tonight.  Just did some weights but feeling some pain on my left wrist when I do my bicep curls.  Just going to rest it today but made some progress and went down to 178.7 lbs.  Might go up tomorrow since I wasn’t able to do much exercise today.  Looks like the body is still sore from the last two days of getting back to exercising.  Anyways, hope to pick it up again tomorrow on the last day of holidays and make a strong push to end 2015.  All the very best!

December 25 – 26 Fitness Challenge: Happy Holidays

“How am I to know what I can achieve if I quit?” – Jason Bishop

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone is having a festive holiday.  December 18th was the last time I posted. It was actually this day when my son, Trevor, was sick and passed it on to me and his brother, Tristan.  It was stomach flu so it lasted till the 23rd for me.  Trevor is okay now but Tristan is still having diarrhea.  Now the whole family is battling the flu.  Started with Trevor again and has spread to every member of the family.  Still, it has been a very awesome holiday so far.  There is joy and happiness in the air and the smiles on people’s faces just tells the story.

December 19th was the last time I exercised and that ended my streak at 67 days of exercising.  My last streak was way back when I started my fitness & health journey back in November 2014 at 63 days.  Now I’m just starting it again with my workout yesterday.  It was really tough and hard to keep up with the workout stream and my reps with the weights.  My weight yesterday was 180.2 lbs so I’m just aiming to finish the year at even by matching my November weight at 176 lbs.

Spent a lot of time just improving myself and watching and reading motivational material.  Finished watching ‘The Secret’ to keep my mind focused and on positive & happy state of mind.  Actually, I’m planning to watch ‘The Secret’ on day 1 of every month next year.  Going to break it down so that I can build momentum and create more achievements towards the bigger picture.  Going to treat each month as a project and plan my months in advance.  I want to live in the moment but be on top with my life instead of life dictating what I can do.  It’s going to be an amazing journey and I’m hoping to create major breakthrough for my family and create new relationships to grow my community.  Very excited with everyday given!

“The virtue lies in the struggle, not in the prize.” – Richard Monckton Milnes

Greetings Family & Friends!

Hope everyone is staying warn this Thursday.  We had our glimpse of snow this morning but not cold enough for it to stick.  It’s going to be a frenzy now at stores to get ready their shovels, tires, salt & sand and whatever panic shoppers can get their hands on.  We tend to wait when it happens then prepare for when it happens.  It is! What it is!  But today, I’m submitting my post in early today because in a few hours my son, Trevor will be having a Christmas Concert at his elementary school.  There will be a bake sale before hand to raise some funds for the school but should be a fun activity all in all.  Hopefully, get to meet the other parents & teachers and make new friends.

Did my main workout a hour ago.  Luckily, it was a light one because I’m feeling the burn from the both leg heavy workouts I did yesterday.  Today’s workout was pilates so it was really hard to sit on my bum or transition to different exercises.  I’m in need of a recovery drink soon so I don’t end up burning out one of these days.  I lost 0.5 lbs today so I’m hoping to keep it going into the weekend.  There will be a Christmas party on Saturday & my son, Tristan’s, birthday party on Sunday.  Need to get it low so I will at least be flat at 177 lbs for Measurement Mondays.  It will truly be a push these remaining weekdays and a test this coming weekend.

Though we want to hit our goals and our results, we need to realize that those are the bonuses.  How we achieved them is the true prize and experience that will empower us to greater things.  It is how we did it is what the most valuable possessions we can attain.  It can be duplicated faster and more efficiently than the first time around.  We must not fall in the trap though to take it easy after we achieved success.  Life is about progress and improving in ourselves and how we do things just compounds our results and achievements.  Keep the Kaizen mentality in mind, just improve on a few things in life each year.  Don’t need to re-invent the wheel but find a ways to make minor improvements.  Keep progressing!

“Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement!” – Brian Tracy

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone had a exciting start to their week.  Yesterday was my first day of vacation so took a rest day with sons.  I still did my minimum workouts and some reading but majority of my day was looking after Tristan & dropping/picking up Trevor from school while mommy was working her day shift.  It wasn’t a good time to do measurement Mondays while Tristan is in his fun mode.  Today, I was able to do input my results after 1 week of the 21 Day Fix.  The Bad News:  I didn’t lose any weight since December 1.  Luckily, that is the only bad news of the day.  The Good New: I did lose 3.1 lbs & 0.5 inches total after 1 week.  I know there are rooms for improvements so I will do my very best to workout more & eat the right portions of food.

On another side note, I officially became a premium member for REIN Canada (Real Estate Investment Network).  I signed up last night with my mother’s help, who is very passionate about real estate investing and holds 5 properties herself.  This has always been a desire of mine since 2001 but have been really involved about learning more & networking more since the September of 2014.  There been on and off moments with friends I wanted to work with but since last November when I attended my first REIN event: ACRE Live 2015 I took action on my own.  I really thank the hosts of my very first meetup group: Earning Passive Income through Real Estate for their help & motivation.  I’m looking forward to my huge development for 2016.  There is a lot of information to go through but I don’t need to fall to my habit of relying on someone but I am not alone with the wonderful people and experts that I get to meet & listen to on a monthly basis.

What are you doing to hit get a fast start for 2016?  Most people are taking December as an off month to celebrate and have fun.  There is nothing wrong with that at all.  But if you use that as your excuse why you are having a slow start & most likely broken a few of your resolutions in 2016 then there is only you to blame.  It’s about balance and scheduling a time towards your development & staying on top of your craft.  Whatever is remaining of your 24 hours is yours to enjoy.  This week I’m on vacation from my work but I will be using that time wisely to setup the ground work for my passion in fitness & passion in real estate investing.  I’ve cut a lot of stuff in my life that wasn’t serving me and focused on scheduling rather than multi-tasking.  Multi-tasking is like driving & texting/reading of an device.  Sure, you may cover some useful information or schedule something important but your COMPLETE focus or attention to detail isn’t there.  The reason you do it is to save time.  Whether it is 30 seconds or 5-10+ mins.  Are you going to risk your future for that?  Spending 10 Mins before you sleep to review what are your plans tomorrow and 10 mins when you wake to plan out your day before you start will only find ways for you to save time but also cut the time going over the information again and that time will be use to compound what you already know.  Focus on what you want for 2016 and really plan it out before 2015 ends.  You owe it to yourself to really make that positive change in your life and live a successful, prosperous & happy life. Compound your life!

Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” – Napoleon Hill
Greetings Family & Friends,
Hope everyone had a marvelous weekend.  For some of you, it was discovering something you didn’t imagine achieving.  For some others, it’s making the most of life.  I had a wonderful weekend with my family.  This weekend has taught me that life is short and not spending part of that life with family & friends leaves a void of strong bonds and happiness from memories created.  One of my aunts celebrated her 75th birthday here in Canada.  This is the first time she has visited her children who called Canada home.  It was a very special moment to bring a big family together and celebrate not only the present but to also reflect on the past and the happiness that were created.  I missed almost 2 decades not interacting with my cousins & my aunts/uncles.  Though it was wonderful to see them more often from this new journey I am on it is still tough to talk about the past or memories created.  There wasn’t many created since my childhood.  My teenage year and my 20s was mostly me on my own just working for tomorrow.  Hopefully, that will change from here on out.
My love for my family has sent me on this journey to be more responsible for my health and well-being.  That action only occurred because I wanted to create memories with happiness & love with my family.  I didn’t want to spend my life on the sidelines with health problems and the inability to participate in their lives.  I want to live life on my terms and be a part of it and not simple watch.  Luckily,  I’m only 1.6 lbs from my lowest so far after a birthday celebration.  I know I still have a lot of work to do to stay consistent with my eating and with my fitness.  There is a lot of work for me to do in order to really make an impact in my health and hopefully empower others to do the same.  I won’t be able to do that if I don’t begin with myself.  I’m hoping that this will be the weekend that will push me to finally create those results for my health and for my future.
We must come to a point in our life and decide what direction to take for our future.  I see many people complain about life and make excuses on why life hasn’t turned out the way they envisioned.  They fail to realize that it is them that is stopping their own success.  Majority of it is emotion and acting on it.  Another part of it is investing in themselves.  This part has many forms and ways of doing it.  Different stages and different lifestyles need different set of skills and an expanded mindset.  I’ve talked to my financial planners from www.livingwellhealthcarefunding.com regarding this.  In order to change your situation in life we must change yourself.  Not just only to decide that you want to change your life but to prepare yourself for that change.  Doing the same thing over again and acting the same way has created your current situation.  If you develop yourself to someone who can handle more then more will come to your life.  It does begin with a choice and a reason why but it also a realization that you must be willing to change from what was holding you back.  It may be your ‘comfort zone’, your pride or fear but realize these are only temporary.  Time is ticking away.  Each grain of sand is falling through.  What are you waiting for? For life to come to you?  Let’s say it does happen and you happen to win the big one or inherit a fortune.  The real question is, “Are you ready for it?”  We may easily say ‘Yes!’ but are we capable of keeping the new life or will our old way of life come and snatch it away?  Invest in yourself and let the people you love and care about be your reminder why you are doing it.  You don’t have to strictly do one or the other but find a balance with the two.  It will be a legacy that you are creating as you go.  Choose to be happy and choose to grow while you do it.

December 10-11 Fitness Challenge: Setting up the Foundation for 2016

“To move the world we must first move ourselves.” – Socrates

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone is having a fantastic Friday.  I attended a evening meetup last Thursday that I wasn’t able to write a blog.  I was so drained from only having 2 hrs of sleep on Wednesday and then going straight without sleep on Thursday.  Luckily, I took my floater day today, Friday, or else I would have set myself up for some tragedy to happen.  The longest I’ve been without sleep was 3 days straight but I was like 19 years old.  And I’m not 19 years old anymore…. lol.  I work graveyard shifts from 3 am – 1130 am so coming home around 11 pm last night and then doing another 2 hrs of sleep would be unwise.   Would I have done something different? Not at all!  I will still have chosen the same path because it was for the future of me, my family and others the care and trust me.  I am setting myself up to have an amazing start to 2016.  Laying down the foundation so that I can start next year with focus and determination to succeed.

The meetup I attend Thursday night was a fitness group.  It aligned on what I was doing and what I wanted to achieve for myself and my fitness challengers.  It is one of the two things I am passionate about doing so the last two meetups was covering both passions.  I have a lot of work to do this month regarding my fitness and how it will transition towards having an amazing year for 2016.  My results this month will determine my success next year and how fast of a momentum I can achieve in that time frame.  Currently, I’m almost where I finished last month at 176.4 lbs.  Just .4 lbs above my November weigh-in but only having 2 weeks into this month then I’m behind my goal of losing 10 lbs this month.  I’m hoping to break the 170 lbs mark again for this month and keep this off.  With finishing my appointments this week I can go back and focus on my health again.

Had the pleasure to see my financial planners today and setup myself for an amazing 2016.  It was wonderful speaking with them again and getting up to date with what is happening and laying the foundation for next year.  Not a lot of people will take action towards their future or spend time towards future.  As much as I preach about living in the moment and making the most of it you still need to be responsible and plan out how you want your future to turn out.  It’s one thing of wanting and wishing that the future will turn out how you like it, it is another thing to putting a detailed plan on how you are going to achieve it.  I went to Michael’s Arts and Craft store early this morning to purchase my Vision Board and see what I want to achieve next year and into the future.  Then meeting up with my financial planners to make those come to life.  Once you start narrowing down what you want and how you will achieve it then you can put more time and focus towards achieving them.  If you are too spread out then you are slowing down your progress and growth dramatically.  Master one thing at a time and then let it take care of your next project or goal.

God Bless
