Greetings Family & Friends,

TGIF! Hope everyone is having an awesome Friday. It was a tough day at work today and yesterday but I survived. Hard to get by with a few people off work but you still have to persevere through it.  It has been a tough week getting my workouts done.  I missed Monday and I missed yesterday also.  Was very close to missing today’s 10 km run but luckily a member of my Challenge Group motivated me to get off my arse!  Thank you, Rob!

The wife was off yesterday so we went out and bought a few things.  Ended up getting exhausted from the little trip.  Took a little nap again that ended up being waking up for work.  I did ended up getting my daily 10,000+ steps in but a 30 min workout gets you that much closer to becoming more better each day. I’m just happy that I was able to do my 10 KM run today.  I missed Wednesday’s 10 KM run but did my Lower Fix workout to compensate.  Today, I was close to beating my record.  I was ahead for 3/4 of my run.  I just fell apart on the final 2.4 km of my run.  Ended up finishing 1:00:50.  It was a real struggle and I was light headed from it.  When you miss workouts, you lose momentum.

I’m glad it didn’t ended up being 2 days of inactivity.  A challenge group is the way to go to stay on track.  If you don’t have a buddy or a group to workout with it makes it so much harder to see it through till the end.  I was very close to missing today but my challenge group member, Rob.  Got through me with his post and I laced it up and hit the pavement.  Find someone that wants to workout with you or someone that is already working out.  Following someone that is committed helps build that positive habit that will change your lifestyle and most importantly your health.  Challenge groups have helped me a lot so find one that makes sense to you.

God bless,

Ryan Jarata & Family!

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday!  Had an interesting start to the day.  Woke up with a flipped over dump truck near my house here at Queensborough bridge.  That must have been 6 – 7 hours before they got that thing removed.  Hope the truck driver is okay.  It was the second time that has happened.  Almost on the same exact spot but this wasn’t as bad as the first one because the first one the cabin fell on the barricade.  Though the restructured the flow of traffic, people tend to underestimate the end curve before the bridge and maintain there speed throughout the circle.

I forgot to wear my Garmin Forerunner 230 this morning in the charger.  I try to motivate myself everyday and try to complete 10,000+ steps everyday.  There is a Garmin Steps Challenge group and I just like to compete and push myself.  I dropped from 2nd to 4th so I really need to step it up tomorrow.  I wasn’t able to do my 10 KM run either to compensate for the loss.  Still battling myself to step up to the plate.  It is just now that I completed my 30 min Lower body workout before I write my post.  My energy isn’t as high as I would like it.  Looks like I’m starting near scratch when I first started this journey.  At least, I’m not as sore and dying like I use to… lol.

I’m also missing my favorite Meetup group tonight.  Wife is working and my brother has an appointment so he can’t watch my two boys tonight.  It’s a very important topic on is my current situation on getting my fiances in order so I can invest in real estate.  Just wasn’t to be for me today but I will step up tomorrow.  That’s is all I can really do.  I can waste my time and complain or cry about it but that won’t really help.  I will move forward and just be better than I was yesterday.  We all have hiccups and off days but we shouldn’t linger on it too much and let it derail us from our purpose and dreams.  Keep moving forward!

God Bless,

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday. I had a great day today. Just finished my workout and ran a bit before I picked up my son from school.  Still a little sore here and there but I’m pushing through.  Feel some soreness on my hips and pain on the bottom of my right foot.  Still not near to where I would like to be but I’m pushing through each day.

Yesterday, was completely crash day.  I did manage to walk for 4-5 km with my wife and youngest son before we picked up the eldest from school.  It was just one of those rare days when the body just shuts down on me and passes out for 8-12 hours. Yesterday was roughly 10 hrs of straight sleep.  I hadn’t had those for a long time.  Working graveyards I usually get 2-5 hrs sleep Monday to Thursday.  Just how it is for now.

Tomorrow will be my 1st 10 km for the week.  Hopefully, I can make some good time but my body doesn’t feel at its best.  Hopefully, I can make some progress and get myself back to game shape.  I think I will pass on the ‘Color Me Radd’ 5 km run this coming Saturday and just focus on getting my training up to a full hour each day.  It has been tough but I know where I can improve on and that is planning ahead of time.  Hope I can get there soon again.

Greetings Family & Friends,

Happy Mothers’ Day!  A beautiful sunny day to celebrate all special moms around the world.  They are the strength & foundation to a happy home & a happy family.  Happy Mothers’ Day to my moms and my beautiful wife.  They are extremely wonderful and their hard work and sacrifices everyday is why we enjoy love and peace at home.  Thank you so much for everything.

We enjoyed lunch this afternoon at Yanni Greek Restuarant for Mothers’ Day.  A lot of family friendly restaurants were busy with line-ups for parking and tables.  That is the love for all moms around the world. A truly special day and appreciation for what they do for their children.  And because of that my wife is working this evening and my own mother too.  That is dedication right there.

I did manage to get my 10 KM run in today after lunch.  It was really tough to do but with young kids you try to get things done with the limited time given.  I wasn’t feeling to good about this run from the start.  I was on pace for the first 15 mins of my run but fell 10 seconds behind on the 30 mins mark. Especially, heading back I had to run against wind.  With Mother’s Day it was very busy on the docks where I run. Needed to maneuver around people and pets. But to my surprise I was able to push hard for the 2nd half of the run.  I had to pray over and over again in my head to keep going. It hurt but I clocked in at 1:00:25.  5 seconds over my best time but I made it happen with obstacles in my way.

I may not be at my best yet but I did with what I have to work with.  I may not be perfect and I don’t tend to be perfect.  I just need to believe in something and believe in myself to battle myself sometimes to keep going.  That is all we can do in life is keep going regardless of the situation and outcome.  Time will always move forward so should we.  Just strive to be better everyday and if you have hiccups on the way then just accept them and get right back on it.  Keep moving because life will move on regardless if  you lay there.

God Bless,

Ryan Jarata & Family

Sometimes when things are falling apart they may actually be falling into place.

Greetings Family & Friends,

Hope everyone had a Super Saturday!  It was a beautiful and sunny day here in Vancouver.  My sister was in town with my nephew so I took the family out together to Capilano Suspension Bridge.  We also had to more kids that join us on this little adventure.  It was a great workout since I had to carry my youngest majority of the trip. Great workout for your stabilizers since I had to have both hands carrying him and keeping my balance on a rocking bridge.

It was quite an experience and reminded me of my adventures last year on a few mountain tops and wilderness.  It’s was fun this time to bring the family.  My eldest was very brave and wasn’t scared of heights.  He went along the treetops and also walked the pathway along the side of a cliff.  They really have changed that place since the last time I’ve been there and it looks like we will be going there a few more times this year and next.  We received annual passes that will last us for a year.

We also had picnic at the park near my home.  There was playgrounds, a small water park & a petting zoo.  Too bad the kids didn’t experience the last two since they didn’t have clothes to change in and the petting zoo was close.  Overall, it was a fun day with family.  I still managed to finish my workout this evening.  Though the day felt like a workout it is still recommended you set aside at least 30 mins dedicated to serious workout.  We are trying to build a positive habit to your health.  Anyways, it’s getting really late and I’m hoping to catch a morning run with The Running Room.  Wish me luck!

NIDO QUBEIN

Greetings Family & Friends!

TGIF!  Hope everyone had an amazing day!  One of my favorite days of the week.  Besides, not having to wake up early for the regular routine of life you are now blessed with time to do what you like to do right after work, school or add time to what you enjoy doing.  For me, some Spring Cleaning in and around the house.  We were able to get rid of some old appliances and recycle some material at the Recycling Depot near our home.  Had time to have a family dinner outside after that.

Though the dinner wasn’t part of the eating plan, I was able to do my 10 KM today and beat it for almost 1 minute.  Did my very best to keep pace and tried to push myself to finish strong.  I need to work harder to improve my cardio and every other aspect that needs improving.  Once I hit under 1 hr for my route then I’ll move no to another challenging running route.  Come close today with a time of 1:00:21 from my last record of 1:01:10,  Tried my best to power up those ramps and sprint to the finish line but no cigar.  I’ll just have to try again for the next training.

I was able to squeeze in a 30 min Pilates workout 30 mins ago.  Even, though I was on the ground for this workout it wasn’t easy at all.  The legs must still be sore from the my 10 KM 5 hours ago and I felt muscles ache from my first week of the 21 Day fix.  It all came rushing back with pains to muscles I never noticed before.  I manage to get through it and blog right now. I’m hoping I’ll be able to do more workouts tomorrow since we will be having Mothers’ Day get together tomorrow with my mother, wife & sister.  It should be really fun since we will be hitting the mountains.  But for now, I need to take a shower for the early rise tomorrow.  All the best that life has to offer and enjoy your weekend!

God Bless,
